The 2024 (11CE) Story Thus Far
1/14/2024 – A noble quest unfolded as a commission was set forth to the realm—capture a Mighty Dire Scorpion destined for an alchemist, tasked with concocting a cure for a devastating disease plaguing the countryside. Amidst a dense wood, a tempest of Air Elementals unleashed chaos upon the group, but were swiftly overcome. Suddenly, Rogue Bendorians emerged, warning of the creature’s intended use by the malevolent Aberrant Uzzlezesh. In the ensuing turmoil, the Rogues attacked, inadvertently unleashing the creature’s power. The cage shattered, leading to the demise of both the Beast and the Rogue Bendorians. Dame Allizia, in the chaos, extracted the sting, claiming the Wrath of the Desert.
1/28/2024 – As word of disease spread through the realm, a member of House Stormholm came to seek aid, Count Sapph had fallen ill. A seeming descent into madness was causing him to lash out indiscriminately, even turning against his own House. The Realm was enlisted to assist, encountering a pack of werebeasts as they followed their Stormholm guide to Count Sapph. In the chaos, Porjak of House Bendoria seized an opportunity to fulfill an outstanding bounty on Zuko Giant-Tackler, sparking conflict between House Warspite and House Bendoria amidst the battle with the encroaching werebeasts. Upon finally locating Count Sapph within an encampment, the scene was grim. He stood among fallen members of Stormholm, donning a silver wolf mask, claiming to embody the long-forgotten Wolf God, Eliya. Count Sapph’s eerie transformation and cryptic proclamations showed a deeper struggle within him, as he vacillated between identities. In a desperate plea for release, he begged for his own demise before vanishing into the dense surrounding forest.
2/11/2024 – Every one hundred years, the lightning spirit Zephyrion emerges to reek havoc on the lands of Warspite. He is a descendant of the Elemental Lords of old and even the cataclysm did not destroy him. There are four lightning rods within the Emberwood that can contain his power and make him vulnerable enough to defeat. Uzzlezesh’s power has brought him forward early. A trade caravan that was cr0ssing through the Emberwood of House Warspite was caught between a bandit attack and the power of Zephyrion. Meanwhile, a group of adventurer’s raided the Library of Tharum. In the end, Zephyrion was defeated by those activating all the lightning rods. Nightling was given the Greatsword of Emberwood as a reward for his service during the battle, while the adventurers made off with dozens of magical scrolls from the Library.
4/7/2024 – As the sun broke over the ridge of Bliss Mountain, the Realm stood in disbelief and complete awe at the sight before them. Tales have been told of this monstrosity. Stories of her majesty described her as a watchful, stone statue… but this was no carving. Tiny spots appeared around the heart of Crytula The Enduring, beneath the surface of her chrysalis. A faint whisper echoed out from Uzzlezesh’s ghoulish lips, with a deafening crack the spell holding her was broken. A shudder ripped through the icy mountainside. Crytula The Enduring was awoken. Ice dragons attempted to allow her to flee, but she was not quite so lucky as Uzzlezesh’s Master of Water was defeated.
5/5/2024 – After the Realm joined to defeat Zephyrion, Dodenskaran mages dedicated their time to researching the knowledge within the Library of Tharum. Through their studies, they were able to trace the origins of the aberrant Uzzlezesh and uncover his true intentions. If his plans are successful, the Abyss will be unleashed upon the Realm of Legend. As a smoky tempest built within the most central forest of Norda Stello, they declared that we could wait no longer to act against our foe. A malfunctioning portal, found at the heart of the forest, is drawing in elementals and destroying the surrounding lands, within is the demi-plane that Uzzlezesh calls home. Deep in their research they also uncovered an additional strand of hope, a legend of forest spirits coming to the aid of the living in their most desperate times. A party was swiftly gathered to investigate a shrine of gemstones, bordering the most central forest, with the hope of gaining the trust of these mysterious spirits. Our forces unified in what has come to be known as Elderscorch Hollow, bestowed with the blessings of the forest spirits. Lord Thwack Axefoot and Lord Regin Spellhammer channeled a bubble of protection, holding the elemental forces at bay as we were attacked by the swarms of elemental creatures drawn to the region. It was hard-fought, but as the last channeler fell our protection failed. The malfunctioning portal that we came to fix was slammed once again by the storm we held at bay. Those still standing were left to watch as a maelstrom centered over the portal, before being swiftly pulled into the chaos. The portal itself spared our imminent doom, as we awakened in a seemingly familiar place, the most central forest of Norda Stello, but now undamaged. The grass, trees, and even the sky had a strange hue about them. In the distance, an unfamiliar landmark – a dark castle, and signs that a storm is brewing. It was decided that it would be best to rest there, to prepare for our investigation of this new environment…
5/18/2024 – The tempest was not quelled, the portal not repaired. Those left standing were deposited into a calm clearing, sent adrift as the damaged portal was lit by the magic flowing through the storm. Awakening into confusion, the grass, trees, and even the sky had a strange hue about them, we would soon find that we were within Uzzlezesh’s own demiplane. Uzzlezesh never ceased his chaos in the strange happenings around the land, gaining power by the minute. He continued in his fashion, speaking telepathically to all who had entered his homeland, “You are fools to think that I can be stopped from gaining my full power and rearranging this mediocre existence that you call home. I am an Aberration, a monster, a harbinger of death, you will not stop me no matter how hard you try.” We finally arrived, at our only means of stopping Uzzlezesh’s plan from coming to fruition, total annihilation of our known world. A dark castle in the distance held an ominous storm brewing above. After much needed rest, we proceeded on to find our foe. Releasing a Lich, long cursed within the castle showed only a taste of the despicable acts of Uzzlezesh. We soon found that those in service to him would gladly give their lives to assist in his plans. Fighting hard, we used the elemental powers that Uzzlezesh controlled against him, opening the portal and demolishing the onslaught of creatures that spewed forth. Finally, our long-awaited objective was in front of us…kill Uzzlezesh. His Abyssal Demons were not enough for the strength of our unity. As he fell, he shrieked, “This is not the end, only the beginning. He is inevitable.” his amulet shattered and out of it, a dragon, the likes of which we have never witnessed, The Deep One took shape before our eyes, roaring and swiftly disappearing beyond the treeline. As Uzzlezesh fell, the demiplane began to dismantle along with him. Everything left behind was ejected…back into the Realm of Legend.
